“I am worthless,” my friend sighed to me. “Oh, no,” I urged, “you are so worthy, so deserving.” My friend wanted to believe, but could not. “You are worthy,” I insisted again. This poem declares your worthiness:
WORTHY
I AM:
rocks and ice in frozen space:
I AM:
dazzling beacons of pulsing proton beams:
I AM:
rainbow clouds, glowing, brilliant, birthing billions of bright suns:
I AM:
gold dust, iron dust, plutonium dust, the stuff of supernova stars:
I AM:
volcanoes bursting liquid stone to the skies, hot and hissing:
I AM:
waters of life, boiling and crystalline, flowing, flowing:
I AM:
the breath of God:
I AM.
It makes me think how I would describe what “I am.”

Let me give it a try.
You are: scarlet maple leaves clinging to sweet faithful trees.
You are: a brook bubbling musically over boulders.
You are: a kestrel–searching, studying–and a robin twittering wonder.
You are: a butterfly on a breeze–a wood nymph, I think–searching, finding.
You are: sunset’s gloaming on the horizon.

We are the who, the what, and the why of all creation. The Great I AM is responsible for this. Acknowledging our I Am, and our We Are, should help to clarify our existence on this Planet. Just saying.

This is brilliant Roger. Self-loathing was the theme this morning (hangover doesn’t help…) so this was good to read. Mind if I share?
